MalayLab allows a student of the Malay language to compare his or her pronunciation to that of a native speaker. The student may choose one from among a group of phrases at a time. For each sentence, the student has the option of having an English translation displayed and/or of hearing the pronunciation of the phrase in Malay. After listening to the native speaker's pronunciation of a sentence, the student may repeat the sentence and record it. The application will display voice images for both pronunciations; these can then be compared by the student.
